In 1989, the first episode of an animated series made its debut on Fox, which has since gone on to conquer the world: The Simpsons. Created by Matt Groening, its success prompted the studio to creation of a string of other animation series aimed at adult audiences, including Futurama in 1998, also created by Matt Groening; Family Guy in 1999, and American Dad! in 2005, both created by Seth MacFarlane. More recently, Bob’s Burgers, was created in 2011 by Loren Bouchard, but has yet to be broadcast in France. Fox is the only network that screens animated shows in prime time, every Sunday evening, making it unique in the US broadcast sphere. Let’s take a look back on these short formats that marked the collective imagination and pop culture, with America blown apart by some absurd, biting gags!

Futurama follows the crazy missions of Fry and his colleagues on the Planet Express in 2999, after being accidentally frozen. As for the Belcher family, they run the restaurant Bob’s Burger, where children Louise, Gene and Tina, whose personalities are as funny as they are appalling, give their parents plenty to deal with.
